SAT. MARCH 5TH SANIBEL ISLAND

We drove over to Sanibel Island and unloaded our bikes at the Informaton area and biked over 15 miles.  Beautiful place with lots of shells on the beach.  We saw an international Shell Show.  One of the pics included shows what they call a Sailor's Valentine.  All details are out of shells.  One artist was there and she told me her framed piece sold for $15, 000.  That is a lot of love!
We biked to beach and walking the shore we saw dozens of stingrays in a feeding frenzy.  We were literally one foot away from them.
Great meal at Island Cow!  You should have seen my strawberry shortcake with icecream!  Can't believe I ate the whole thing!  Good thing I had a few more miles to bike before finding the truck.
All are made from shells.

PERFECT BIKE PATHS

Paths took us  to J.N. Ding Darling National Wildlife Refuge

This is the story of a cartoonist who had a passion for conserving.  He used this theme in his  cartoons.  Roosevelt named him as head of Conservation back in the 1920's.   Ding Darling built a fish  house here and use to vacation on Sanibel Island and had it named as a refuge to protect   birds,       alligators etc.  Lots of birds and we saw the white American pelican that we see at Lac Santé in Alberta so they have a  great place for the winter!
